Hemodialysis is generally completed by hemodialysis machine, which is mainly composed of extracorporeal blood circulation system, dialysate pathway, circuit control and monitoring, man-machine interaction device. The external blood circulation system includes blood pump, heparin pump, arterio-venous pressure monitoring, air monitoring and venous clamp tissue. Blood pumps generally use peristaltic pumps to push the blood forward.
During hemodialysis, peristaltic pumps are mainly used to transport blood or dialysate to the positive pressure side by making elastic and deformable fluid lines. The resistance of extracorporeal blood circulation lines and dialyzers must be overcome during delivery.
Why is peristaltic pump used as a transport pump for hemodialysis? The working principle of peristaltic pump is that the pump tube is alternately squeezed and released by the roller to pump the fluid, wherein the pump head is the main conveying device, composed of two parts of the pump shell and the roller, the pump tube is fixed between the roller and the pump shell, and the runner presses the pump tube in the pump. The roller successively runs over the pump tube, pushing the fluid in the tube forward. After the wheel is rolled over, the pump tube recovers its original shape due to its own elasticity, forming a vacuum at the suction end of the pump tube, and the liquid is sucked because of the vacuum.
Application of peristaltic pump in hemodialysis
From this working principle, it can be observed that when the peristaltic pump transfers fluid, the pump body does not directly contact the fluid, only contact the pump tube, the pump tube can meet GMP, USP Class VI, FDA and NSF and other clean certification standards, does not contain any toxic and harmful substances, and the hose is easy to be replaced and disinfected. Because of the different pump pipes, ethylene oxide (ETO), ray, 2.5Mradγ sterilization, sterilization pot and other repeatable high-temperature and high-pressure disinfection methods can be used. It can guarantee the cleanliness and hygiene in the process of dialysis.
Secondly, there is no blood flow detection device in the hemodialysis machine, and the blood flow is calculated indirectly by detecting the peristaltic pump speed, which is detected by the optocoupler sensor. The peristaltic pump will produce a fixed amount of liquid per revolution. Therefore, the peristaltic pump can change the flow rate by adjusting the speed of the pump, and the accuracy of the delivery is also very high, which can effectively control the flow during the delivery and help the hemodialysis process be safer.
